Romania Stages "The Decision" in a World Premiere
The world premiere of the performance "The Decision" (text by Alexander Manuiloff) took place in Cluj, Romania on Sept 6, 2019..
The theatre hall was overbooked and the performing arts elite of the city of Cluj appluaded the performance.
The work on the piece started within the WRITE rezidenza internazionale di drammaturgia 2018, Sicily, Italy, curated by Tino Caspanello and was first staged in Romanian by the independent arts centre Tranzit House in early September next year.
“The Decision” by Alexander Manuiloff is a design for theatre night where actors have not read the text from before and audience can take decisions.
The actors and the characters of the text will also take decisions that will ultimately change their life stories. There is a twisted love game at the backdrop of a dark, anti-utopian prospect of a whole country entering a state of war.
All the situations are testing some form of personal corruption – staring from intimate relations, going on through working situations and finally reaching to socially significant acts.
A theatre night that discusses the questions of democracy, the potential for solidarity and participation in increasingly isolated and disconnected societies. Also love, violence and serenades.
Performers: Alexandra Caras, Lucian Rad, Selma Dragoș
Translation into Romanian: Adina Pop-Coman
Directions; Alexander Manuiloff
